The country’s data privacy law is “not a restriction” on the Commission on Audit (COA) to collect data from state-run Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) amid alleged multibillion-peso irregularities. In a statement over the weekend, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) made it clear that the Data Privacy Act (DPA) is not a hindrance for COA to perform its duties in acquiring and examining PhilHealth data.
