Inflation likely continued to ease last month as lower food prices tempered fuel price hikes, economists polled by The Manila Times said. Forecasts for the month ranged from 3.3-4.05 percent with a 3.5-percent average — within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) 3.1-3.9 percent estimate for the month. Consumer price growth returned to the BSP’s 2.0-4.0 percent goal in February, falling to 3.8 percent after 11 months of above-target results. Official March inflation data is scheduled for release on April 5. In the Times poll, Asian Institute of Management economist Emmaneul Leyco offered the highest inflation forecast of 3.9-4.2 percent. ... more
