ILAGAN CITY, Isabela: The Bambanti Festival earned another victory, landing in the Guinness World Records (GWR) with 2,495 street dancers dressed as scarecrows performing non-stop for two hours. “Bambanti” is the Iloco term for scarecrow used by farmers to protect their rice fields from birds that pluck maturing rice grains. Paulina Sapinska, GWR adjudicator and representative, said this surpassed the criteria set for the new world record at 250 human scarecrows dancing continuously for five minutes. “After the proper verification and witnessing your event, the Bambanti Festival set the new world record for the largest human scarecrow dancers,” Sapinska said.
