ZAMBOANGA CITY: A Philippine Navy patrol rescued seven people whose boat nearly sank after it was battered by huge waves off Tawi-Tawi. Rear Admiral Rene Medina, chief of the Naval Forces in western Mindanao, said the ill-fated boat, which came from the capital town of Bongao, was loaded with lumber and was heading to the island-town of Sitangkai when it developed engine trouble and tossed by giant waves.
